The Lincoln Mark LT didnt work out but we got “Limited” and “Platinum” versions of mainstream fullsize pickups because of it. That said, I still wish we had a true luxury pickup and not an open-cargo SUV. A truck that starts at $55,000. “But that’s 4-cyl E-Class money!!” So what, I want a truck with zero fascinations about being for the fleet.
We have the “working man’s truck” but they have become too expensive to really be the working man’s truck! But people obviously want to spend $70k on transportation. Therefore, let’s make a truck that’s specifically for the bosses. The “Boss’s Truck.” I don’t care if it’s still a Ford, Chevrolet, Ram, or if it moves up into a Lexus or Infiniti. I just want a real, more than adaquently capable luxo-truck. Denali is midgrade, that’s why half of all GMCs seem to be Denalis.
What if the Lincoln LT-150 had of came with a completely different exterior and interior design? Or had of been a Volvo, Land Rover, even a Jaguar or Aston Martin! Ok, too crazy...but at least a Volvo.

You can absolutely option yourself a very capable 2500HD diesel 4x4 Sierra Denali for $70k.

That’s why it’s hard to explain. Imagine getting to a point where instead of adding even more insane capability you get handcrafted Aston Martin-esque materials, or reclining rear seats and controls like an S-Class. A Sierra 1500 Denali that can go head to head with a Range Rover LWB instead of ever increasing payload and towing.

I love the Denali, but I think Denali sales make up nearly 40% of GMC sales or something crazy like that. When nearly half your cars are top end then you aren’t reaching high enough.

I’d like to see Lexus do something on the Tundra chassis. That stupid Predator grille would look awesome on a full-size pickup.

But none of that involves making the interior materials and design rival a similarly priced sedan or SUV. There’s just more to luxury materials than seats and door inserts. Also, you can texture plastics to feel better while being durable.

Isn’t the Land Cruiser J200 chassis a distant relative of the Tundra chassis?
So, basically, a Lexus LX570 pickup is what you want.

Sort of. But saying just a pickup version of the Lx570 doesn’t quite do it - that brings to mind something like the H2T that was a pickup-ified version of an SUV based on a pickup. I was thinking keep the longer frame of the Tundra and design a new body from the ground up designed to be a truck, with a separate can and bed at least 5 feet long.

Trucks will have truck interiors. All you can change is the materials, colors and options. All of which has been done to the Raptor. It has a unique frame, unique body work, a new engine and an upgraded interior too. The plastic in a Raptor or Platinum is not what you get in an XL.
